IRSA tackles safety at Intertraffic Amsterdam 2006

April 13, 2006

Intertraffic was established in 1972 and has since evolved into easily the most important and largest platform for transportation infrastructure, traffic management, safety and parking sectors. The 18th edition of Intertraffic took place in Amsterdam from Tuesday 4 to Friday 7 April 2006.

More than 25,000 professional visitors and exhibitors met, shared information and made business with each other and a couple of hundreds participated in the conferences and seminars organised within the Intertraffic Event.

Safety is a vital component of traffic and transport, in general; this is the reason that two distinguished members of the International Road Safety Academy Association (IRSA) opened the seminar on Safety on Wednesday, April 5th 2006.

As IRSA’s road safety programmes and activities focus mainly on developing countries, a presentation on “Self Funding Road Safety in developing Countries” was prepared by the Operational Manager of IRSA – Romania, Mrs. Dana Voicu.

Our approach to road safety also includes the high education component, and for that IRSA is developing a Road Safety Master and Ph.D. study for the Universities in Romania, Spain, Ecuador, Ethiopia and North Cyprus. The person responsible for this subject in Romania is Prof. Dr. Ing. Petru Branzas who also gave a comprehensive presentation at the Intertraffic Amsterdam Seminar related to the utility and positive effects of these studies for road safety.
