In Memoriam Cristian Radu

December 25, 2006

It was a Saturday evening, before Christmas, a peaceful and nice evening with loved ones and friends. Suddenly we received a message that ripped our heart off:

My brother, my mother’s son and such a wonderful young man was KILLED together with his loving girlfriend, in a horrific car crash. I feel empty, helpless and I know that life will never be the same again for us, those who knew and loved Cristian and Cristina.

My brother was driving his car next to his girlfriend, listening to music, having a relaxing time heading to the mountains where he was supposed to celebrate his birthday… on Christmas he was turning 28… but suddenly, a new, shiny car coming from the opposite direction stroke them like lightning.

Cristian was driving on his lane, with 80km/h on a 90 limit road, but had the incredible misfortune to encounter a car running with 170km/h whose driver lost control of the car in the exact millisecond when it passed them. Talk about cruel destiny, to die absolutely innocent in a fraction of a second…

And the incredible irony is that Cristian made his choice to work in saving lives on the roads, worldwide; he was working for IRSA since 2004 and was going to Addis Abbaba, at the beginning of 2007, to help save lives in Africa…

Cristian saved many lives with his courage, his big heart and cheerful nature, whether it was his efforts in road safety or his volunteer rescue missions in the floods from 2005… but he could not save himself!

God chose another path for him.

God had other plans, maybe greater ones for Cristian and Cristina.

Now we keep his dreams alive.

Now we honor him and ask God above to take good care of both of them!
