The IRSA – Association and the IRSA – North Cyprus have signed an agreement to start a digital speed and red light camera project in North Cyprus. 142 speed cameras will be installed in the most dangerous locations on the North part of the island; another 8 speed cameras will be used in police patrol cars. In a second phase, red light cameras will be installed too.

IRSA – Association has carried out the first speed enforcement training in Addis Ababa – Ethiopia during the first week of March 2006.
Ethiopia has a big problem with road safety. There are 128 fatalities per 10.000 vehicles, which is an unacceptable high number in comparison with most other developing countries; not to mention the western world where state of the art technology, knowledge and budgets have greatly improved road safety.
The Ethiopian authorities take the road safety problems very seriously and have developed a national road safety plan. IRSA – Association is assisting the road authorities with knowledge, technology, trainers and good practices.

Following our initiative to collaborate with worldwide Universities for improving road safety through education, on December the 7th 2005 IRSA – Association signed a Partnership Agreement with the Technical University of Cluj.
The aim of this agreement is to create an academic collaboration for contributing to improve our road safety approach around the world.

The International Road Safety Academy – Association has taken the initiative to collaborate with Universities to develop a Master and Postgraduate Study on Road Safety.

The IRSA Regional Centre for Central and Eastern European Countries in Bucharest celebrated one year of activity on the 21st of October, 2005.
On this occasion several IRSA events and meetings have taken place in Bucharest: first was the Board Meeting of IRSA – Association at the Centre for Postgraduate Studies Bucharest, on 20 and 22 Octombre 2005.
