IRSA – North Cyprus will start its first training courses in September 2005

A special Defense Driver Training course will be introduced at the East Mediterranean University on Northern Cyprus. About 20.000 students, staff and relatives must undergo this special course if they want to drive their car at the compound of the University. The course has been developed in the Netherlands by one of its supporting members VVCR, Rijssen, the Netherlands. The course will give all the drivers more information how to drive saver and above all to create a better driving awareness. Cyprus has one of the worst traffic casualty rates of the world.

IRSA – Ethiopia

The governmental authorities of the capital city Addis Ababa, the National Road Safety Council, the local Road Safety Council, the Police and the University of Ethiopia have expressed their support to establish the IRSA- Ethiopia in 2005. The Institute for Traffic Care and the representative of the City Addis Ababa have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to start the procedures for the establishment. The first training of the traffic police trainers and specialists has been scheduled for August 2005. This program is a part of the “Golden Hour” project.

IRSA – Egypt

July 11, 2005

The Head of the Traffic Police of Egypt paid a visit to Bucharest for number of meetings with governmental authorities, the management of the IRSA – Association and IRSA – Romania. The government of Egypt is positive about the initiative to establish the IRSA – Egypt in Cairo. It is expected that the IRSA – Egypt will play a regional role in the Middle East.

IRSA – North Cyprus

In Nicosia, the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the government has agreed with the establishment of the IRSA – North Cyprus. An MOU between the Institute for Traffic Care, the IRSA – Association and the representatives of the North Cypriot Transport and Safety Council has been signed to establish the local IRSA. It is expected that the opening of the office of the IRSA – North Cyprus will be opened soon.

IRSA – Russia

July 9, 2005

The representatives of the Institute for Traffic Care and the Russian company ROSSI have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish the IRSA – Russia. The initiative has the support of the Ministry of the Interior and the Traffic Police Force of MOSCOW (GIBDD). The first series of training the traffic police trainers have been carried out very successfully at the Moscow Traffic Police Training Center. At this moment 4500 traffic police officers receive additional courses to improve their enforcement skills and crash handling activities. IRSA representatives in Moscow are preparing new projects.
