The Institute of Road Traffic Education (IRTE)

A Non Government Organisation. This non profit organisation was formed in December 1991 by an Inter-disciplinary group of members drawn from amongst police, doctors, journalists, engineers, educationists, ex-servicemen, architects, automobile experts etc. The Vision of IRTE was born from a necessity to create a positive attitude of road culture in society. This vision has translated itself into an organisation, which has embarked on its Mission to strengthening the infrastructure of driver training, traffic engineering, and road user awareness in India.

The International Road Safety Organisation PRI

is a non-governmental organisation, founded in 1959 to promote co-operation amongst national institutions dealing with road safety. Some fifty countries are represented within PRI from Africa, America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

ROSPA

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents is a registered charity which was established over 80 years ago. Providing information, advice, resources and training, RoSPA is actively involved in the promotion of safety in all areas of life - at work, in the home, and on the roads, in schools, at leisure and on or near water. RoSPA aims to campaign for change, influence opinion, contribute to debate, educate and inform - for the good of all.

ASIRT

ASIRT is a non-profit, humanitarian organization that promotes road travel safety through education and advocacy. ASIRT provides travelers with road safety information, enabling them to make informed travel choices. ASIRT serves as a resource to governments, corporations, travel organizations, guidebooks, study abroad programs, health/travel clinics and non-governmental organizations. ASIRT helps foster the development of new road safety organizations in other countries.

DG Transport and Energy (DG TREN)

The Directorate-General for Energy and Transport is responsible for developing and implementing European policies in the energy and transport field.

Tispol

In March 1996 a meeting was organised by the European Commission (DGVII) with police officials representing the traffic police forces from the capital cities of the European Union. At this meeting, the decision was taken that the emerging co-operation between traffic police forces could and should be formalised and strengthened. This would enable police officers to share their experiences and knowledge on road safety issues.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), under the U.S. Department of Transportation, was established by the Highway Safety Act of 1970, as the successor to the National Highway Safety Bureau, to carry out safety programs under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966 and the Highway Safety Act of 1966.

VTI - Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (Väg- och transportforskningsinstitut)

VTI conducts applied research, commissioned by the transport sector, in the fields of infrastructure, traffic and transport. Our expertise covers traffic engineering, traffic safety, economics of transport, environmental aspects of transport systems, railway engineering, road user behaviour, vehicle engineering, human factor, collision safety and the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operations of higways and railways.

VicRoads

VicRoads keeps Victorians on the move - efficiently and safely. It is the State’s agency responsible for managing the Victorian road network and its use as an integral part of the overall transport system. It manages road development and maintenance, traffic and road use, registration and licensing systems, revenue collection and road safety programs.

AA Driver Education Foundation

The AA Driver Education Foundation has been formed by the New Zealand Automobile Association as an independent body to represent the interests of the New Zealand Automobile Association (and its membership) and other major parties in the specific area of road user safety through improved driver licencing standards, driver attitude and driver skills.

European Cyclist Federation

The European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) is pledged to ensure that bicycle use achieves its fullest potential so as to bring about sustainable mobility and public well-being. To achieve these aims, the ECF seeks to change attitudes, policies and budget allocations at the European level. The ECF will stimulate and organise the exchange of information and expertise on bicycle related transport policies and strategies as well as the work of cyclists movement.

Institution of Highways and Transportations

Originally established in 1930 as the Institution of Highway Engineers before changing its name in 1987 in recognition of sector developments. The IHT is the foremost learned society in the UK concerned specifically with the design, construction, maintenance and operation of sustainable transport systems and infrastructure. It aims to provide a forum for the exchange of technical information and views on highways and transport policy; to produce practical technical publications; to provide specialist advice to government and other bodies; to make roads safer for the travelling public; and to encourage training and professional development to meet today’s requirements.

International Road Federation

The International Road Federation is a not-for-profit, non-political service organisation. Its purpose and continuing objective is to encourage better road and transportation systems worldwide and to help apply technology and management practices which will give maximum economic and social returns from national road investments.

PIARC - World Road Association

PIARC - World Road Association - was founded in 1909 following the 1st International Road Congress held in Paris in 1908. It is the oldest international association concerned with Road Engineering, Road Policy and the Management of Road Networks. It has evolved since and now boasts 93 Member Governments and other Members in 129 countries worldwide. The official languages of PIARC are French and English. The Central Office of PIARC is located in PARIS, France.
